Hi, I’m Brian Nedley, Jr., founder of Dugout Pros.
As a former Lewis Mills player and a lifelong baseball fan right here in Harwinton, I know firsthand how quickly the cost of top-tier gear adds up. Whether I was on the mound, at shortstop, or in the lineup, I saw the same thing: great players sidelined by the price of a new bat.
I started Dugout Pros because I saw a massive need for affordable, high-quality used gear that parents can actually trust. I’m using my years on the field to personally vet every piece of equipment for safety and performance, helping local kids stay in the game without breaking the family budget.
How the Community Trade-In Works
We are expanding our reach across Connecticut by building a network of Community Hubs. These local training facilities and batting cages serve as official Dugout Pros 'Trade-In Posts. Now, parents and players have the flexibility to mail their used baseball & softball bats directly to us for store credit or visit a partnered facility to trade in used bats for discounted cage rentals, or private lessons.
For Store Credit:
Step 1: Secure Your Account
Before submitting a trade-in, you must have an active Dugout Pros Account. This ensures your store credits are safely attached to your profile the moment it is issued. [Click Here to Create or Login to Your Account]
Step 2: The Digital Inspection (Email Us)
To receive a Pre-Approved Quote, send a detailed email to info@dugoutpros.com with the following information:

- The Specs: Used Bat Model/Year, Original MSRP
- The Condition: Your Honest Assessment (Refer to the “Conditions” section on our “Bat Trade-In Post Sheet” below for help)

The “Elite 8” Photo Requirements: To give our customers the most accurate quote, we require 8 high-resolution photos with ample lighting.

Step 3: Pre-Approval & Shipping
Once our team reviews your photos (usually within 24 hours), we will reply with a Conditional Offer.
- Shipping: You are responsible for securely packaging your baseball or softball bat. We recommend using bubble wrap and a dedicated bat box.
- The Label: We will provide a prepaid shipping label for all bats with a pre-approved value over $100. For bats under $100, a flat $15 shipping fee will be deducted from your final credit.
- Drop Off: Simply tape the label to your box and drop it at any authorized carrier location.
Step 4: Physical Inspection & Payout
Final Store Credit is issued only after a physical inspection at our Harwinton facility.
- The 48-Hour Guarantee: Once your bat arrives, our experts perform a "Sound & Stress Test" to check for internal rattles, cracks, or dead spots not visible in photos.
- Instant Credit: Upon passing inspection, your final Store Credit will be emailed to you as a Shopify Gift Card and automatically added to your account.
For Extra Hacks/Lessons:
- Check Your Gear: Use our ”Bat Trade-In Post Sheet” below to see what your bat is worth based on its year, original price, and condition.
- Visit a Hub: Once our partner locations are live, you can drop your used bat off right at the front desk of your favorite local facility.
- Trade & Play: In exchange for your bat, the facility provides you with immediate credits to use towards a discounted batting cage rental or discounted private lesson.

Expert Equipment Guarantee
We take our "No-Go" safety tests seriously. Every bat we collect is inspected for:
- Internal Integrity: Checking for "rattles" or loose composite fibers that kill pop.
- Structural Safety: Identifying hairline cracks or "spiderwebbing" that can lead to barrel failure.
- League Compliance: Ensuring all stamps (BBCOR, USSSA, USA) are valid and legal for play.
Trade-In Program Store Credit Terms & Conditions
By participating in the Dugout Pros Trade-In Program, you agree to the following:
- Store Credit Only: All trade-in values are issued strictly as non-refundable Store Credit (Shopify Gift Card). We do not offer cash, check, or credit card refunds for traded items.
- Conditional Offers: All digital quotes are "Conditional." We reserve the right to adjust the final offer or reject the trade if the physical item arrives in a different condition than described or shown in photos.
- Structural Integrity: Bats with cracks, seams, internal rattles, or altered end caps will not be accepted. If a rejected bat is sent, it will be returned at the owner's expense or disposed of upon request.
- Shipping Fees: For items valued under $100, the $15 shipping fee is a non-refundable deduction from the trade-in credit.
- Final Sale: Once a trade-in is finalized and credit is issued, the transaction is final. The traded item becomes the property of Dugout Pros and cannot be returned to the original owner.
