Collection: Shop By OBR (Overall Bat Rating)
At Dugout Pros, we’ve inspected and rated thousands of used baseball bats for serious players, coaches, and teams. Our proprietary OBR™ Formula was developed through real on-field testing with pro players— it gives you total transparency on barrel performance, barrel condition, and the bats grip.
This guide walks you through exactly how we evaluate used metal, composite, and wood bats with our official Dugout Pros OBR™ Formula. Our diagnostic helps us figure out the BPR™ (Barrel Performance Rating), BCR™ (Barrel Condition Rating) and BGR™ (Bat Grip Rating) of the Bat. Whether you’re buying or checking your own bat, you’ll know precisely what you’re getting at Dugout Pros.

The Dugout Pros “Weighted OBR™ Formula” Breakdown
Every bat undergoes a 15-point inspection, scoring BPR, BCR, and BGR on a 5-point scale. The final OBR™ (out of 10) is calculated as: ((BPR x 0.55) + (BCR x 0.35) + (BGR x 0.1)) x 2.
- BPR™ (Barrel Performance Rating - 55%): Measures "pop" and trampoline effect, ensuring it's game-ready.
- BCR™ (Barrel Condition Rating - 35%): Visual assessment (scratches, chips, etc.). Note: Visual flaws do not dictate performance.
- BGR™ (Bat Grip Rating - 10%): Evaluates grip tackiness and wear, recognizing grips are easily replaceable.
