How To Select the Proper Sized Baseball Bat for Juniors

Dugout Pros Guide on How to Select the proper sized baseball bat for kids

Dugout Pros has specialized in our very own custom Baseball Bat Sizing Chart. We believe weight has little to do with picking the length for your bat, especially for younger players. Yes there are advantages to a longer bat with more weight but there are also draw backs. Same goes with picking a shorter bat.

A player using a longer bat will likely produce more power, but will have a longer and slower swing due to weight. Longer baseball bats provide better outside coverage of the plate and are typically recommended for taller players who can wield the weight of a longer bat efficiently and effectively.

A shorter bat will naturally give a player a faster bat swing velocity, enabling the player to hit the inside ball more efficiently, effectively and consistently. However, a shorter bat provides less coverage of the plate and a smaller sweet spot. Shorter bats are recommended for those who want to benefit from a faster swing velocity and or those who struggle to swing heavier bats when moving up the chain of command; this is most common during the transition from youth leagues to middle and or high school leagues.

We recommend every player looks at our specialized sizing chart. There is a recommended length for every player. Bats lengths in the middle(highlighted bright green) of our Green Zone are recommended for most players within the height range. These bats are known as Sweet-Spot Bats. Sweet-Spot Bats are for most players looking for the perfect length bat. These bats give you the advantage of being able to reach both inside and outside of the plate equally, rather than having an advantage over one. Bat speed is mostly dependent on the strength of the player for Sweet-Spot Bats.

Below is Dugout Pros Baseball Bat Sizing Chart for all players: Anywhere in the Green-Zone is an acceptable size bat for players within their height range. Selecting the length of the bat within the green zone is up to the players preference.
